i. To a sugar solution of 3 litres containing 40% sugar, one litre of water is added. The percentage of sugar in the new solution is :

Quantity of sugar = ${\left(\begin{array}{c}\frac{40}{100}\times3\end{array}\right)}$kg = 1.2 kg.
New percentage = ${\left(\begin{array}{c}\frac{1.2}{4}\times100\end{array}\right)}$ = 30%.
